Tangible Cultural Asset

Namwonsa Mireukjeon (Cultural Property no. 88)
  • Established by Jimgamguksa during the Heungdukwang (King Heungduk) period of United Shilla period. The temple owns Seokbuljwaseong, stone pagodas of the mid-Goryeo.
Garam Byunggee Lee's birthplace (Local Monument no.6)
  • he house is built according to juxtaposition of late Joseon aristocrats' houses. A main building (Anchae) and a couple of other buildings (including sarangchae), and a pavilion remain.
Simgoksa (Simgok Temple) Daewoongjeon (Cultural Heritage no. 87)
  • Established by Muyeomguksa during the United Shilla period; inside the temple is a seven-story stone pagoda built during the Goryeo period.
Yonganhyanggyo Daeseongjeon (Cultural Heritage no. 86)
  • Originally built by Gongminwang (King Gongmin) of Goryeo in 1391, it was moved to the present location in the 16th year of Taejong of Joseon Dynasty (1391).
Yonganhyanggyo Daeseongjeon
  • Built in the third year of Taejong of Joseon Dynasty (1403), and was destroyed during the Japanese Invasion. Shaped like �(Chinese character meaning "person") and has unique rooftop structure called "Maetbaejibung."
House of Angyun Kim
  • A house built with a mix of late Joseon aristocrat's style and Japanese style, the house serves as a good source to research the house structure of the late Joseon period.
Hwasan Catholic Church
  • The main building was built in 1897 to honor the start of priest Daegun Kim. The building has a beautiful structure which blends both that of the east and the west.
Munsusa (Munsu Temple) Daewoonjeon
  • Established by Hyegamseonsa during the Hyungangwang (King Hyungang) period of United Shilla era (881). The temple has buildings such as Daewoongjeon and Myungbujeon.
Hamyeolhyanggyo Daeseongjeon
  • Established in the 19th year of King Sejong of Joseon Dynasty (1437), and was destroyed during the Japanese invasion. King Yeongjo restored the building. (1724~1776)

Intangible Cultural Heritage

Irienongak (Important Intangible Cultural Heritage no. 11)
  • Farm music of Honam Udo area, and has been handed down to villages in Jeongeup and Gimje area.
Iksan Gisebae (Jeonbuk Intangible Cultural Heritage no. 25)
  • A game found in Godo-ri, Geumma-myeon, it is a game played in January New Year to wish for good harvest
Song of Iksanmokbal (Jeonbuk Intangible Cultural Heritage no.1)
  • A game of farmers tapping with sticks and wooden rack (jige) in tune with farm songs
Iriehyangjejulpungryu (mportant Intangible Cultural Heritage no.83-Na)
  • Played by 8 traditional instruments: Geomungo, Gayageum, Yanggeum, Danso, Haegeum, Daegeum, Piri, Janggu.
